New Tata Sierra final design leaked in patent images

Production-spec Tata Sierra EV seems to have a lot in common with the concept shown at Auto Expo 2023.

At Auto Expo 2023 in January, Tata Motors confirmed the return of the Sierra SUV, and recent patent images suggest that the project has progressed significantly toward production. The upcoming Tata Sierra, slated for a 2025 comeback, will be available with both electric and internal combustion powertrain options.

The patent images reveal that the new Tata Sierra’s design closely resembles the Auto Expo concept. The front end maintains an upright stance with a distinct line separating the front bumper, faux skid plate, and a wide grille. The headlamp setup appears split, with the main headlamps positioned just above the grille. Similar to other recent Tata SUVs, the Sierra features a broad LED lightbar at the top of the nose, with a prominent Tata logo in the center. The flat bonnet seamlessly integrates with the light bar and includes two vertical creases at each end.

On the sides, the Sierra retains rectangular wheel arches with contrasting body cladding. The production version seems to incorporate more body cladding on the doors and running boards, connecting with the cladding on both wheel arches. Unique creases adorn both doors, connecting the wheels, and a strong shoulder line starts from the rear door, extending onto the fender and merging with the tail-lamps.

The glasshouse design appears consistent with the concept, featuring a B-pillar with a unique design. The quarter glass behind the rear door also showcases distinctive design touches, reminiscent of those seen on the facelifted Harrier and Safari models. While the rear styling is not visible in the patent image, it is expected to resemble the concept with realistic touches on the rear bumper, tail-lamp area, and other details.

While specific details about the powertrain options are not available, the Sierra will offer an electric vehicle (EV) variant. Similar to Tata Motors’ strategy for the Curvv, the Sierra may launch as an EV initially, followed by the introduction of the internal combustion engine (ICE) version later.

Tata Motors is currently occupied with the market launches of the Punch EV, Harrier EV, and the Curvv. More information about the new Sierra is expected to be unveiled closer to its market launch in 2025.
